cost/insurance
How much does an evaluation cost?
The cost of an evaluation depends on a number of factors, including the referral question and type of testing requested. Dr. Politis will be able to give you a cost estimate when you call for an initial consultation.
Will my insurance cover services with Dr. Politis?
Dr. Politis does not work directly with health insurance plans. This allows her the flexibility to conduct appropriate evaluations based on the referral questions, without being limited by insurance reimbursement. This also allows you to control what information is shared with your health insurance company. However, you will receive a Super Bill at the end of your evaluation that is coded for insurance submission.
How is payment for the evaluation structured?
Half of the total estimated cost is typically due on the day of the first appointment, with the balance due at the final appointment and before the report is released. If you are needing alternate payment arrangements, please be sure to discuss this with Dr. Politis during your initial consultation.
Does Dr. Politis offer sliding scale or discounted evaluations?
Above all, Dr. Politis is dedicated to providing high quality evaluations that are comprehensive enough to answer the referral question(s) without unnecessary testing. She provides discounts to college students and siblings of prior clients, in addition to providing low-cost and pro-bono evaluations for specific non-profit organizations and under special individual circumstances. If you find that you do not fall into one of these categories but are concerned about your ability to afford an evaluation, please inquire about the possibility of setting up a payment plan.
process
What does an evaluation entail?
The exact process depends on the type of testing requested. However, typically an evaluation involves an initial interview with the client and/or parents, between one and three testing sessions, and a final meeting to discuss the results and recommendations.
How are the results communicated?
You will have a final meeting with Dr. Politis to discuss her findings, relevant diagnoses (if appropriate), and recommendations. You will also receive a detailed and comprehensive report that includes the test scores, analysis, and interpretation, that you may share with your/your child’s teachers, physician, therapist, and other appropriate providers.

Will Dr. Politis provide advocacy services and/or help explain the testing results to my child’s teacher?
Absolutely, although this would not be included in the cost of the evaluation. It is often helpful to have the presence of a third-party advocate who can assist your family in navigating services and informing school administrators and teachers of your child’s specific needs and strengths. Dr. Politis is willing to be a part of your child’s 504/IEP meeting to explain her findings and advocate for relevant and appropriate accommodations for your child.
